Wine Festival in Switzerland (23/09)

Every year on the last weekend of September, the Neuchâtel ( TAG1> hosts the ) Famous Wine Festival — Fête des Vendanges de Neuchâtel / Neuchatel Wine Festival (. Three days — from Friday to Sunday — cafes, bars, street wine racks and music groups revitalize the old city and make life more fun and more festive.

It is known that grape cultivation on mountain slopes began in Neuchâtel more than ten centuries ago. And it is not surprising that the grape harvest is celebrated with such a colorful and noisy festival.

This holiday, which can be called the hallmark of Switzerland, dates back to 1902. Annually, this celebration gathers about 150 thousand people. The festival program includes walks in vineyards and wine tasting.

In addition, entertainment for every taste is offered: fair rides for thrill lovers, battles « confetti » for those who know how to keep their mouths shut. Local amateur brass bands play « goggen music ».

On Saturday afternoon, spectators admire the solemn children's costume procession, the parade of the best European brass bands, and the flower procession.

The culmination of the festival is a large parade on Sunday afternoon. Countless carnival rooks decorated with flowers move along the streets of the city. All are united by a common theme — thanks to the harvest.
