City Festival Dresden (19/08)

In August, one of the largest industrial centers in Germany celebrates its city holiday, Dresden –.

True, the date of the city festival does not coincide with the historical birthday of the city, which is celebrated on March 31. It is this number from 1206 that the charter of Dietrich von Meissen dates, in which Dresden was first mentioned. Thus, the city is just over 800 years old.

City festival – Dresden City Festival – is a young holiday, it has been on the calendar since 1998. However, it is celebrated in Dresden with wide mass celebrations.

Over the course of three days and nights, the streets and squares turn into concert and theater venues: in different parts of the city you can enjoy either music, dances, or performances based on ancient legends. During the daytime you can attend a variety of sports competitions.

The center of the holiday, as a rule, is Teatralnaya Square, where grandiose concerts of popular and rock music take place. Integral elements of the holiday are the festive procession Der Fürstenzug zu Dresden, the steamship festival Sächsiche Dampfschifffahrt and fireworks.

The holiday program remains equally intense every year, although it is constantly changing.
