Day of workers of the transport and communications complex in Turkmenistan (07/03)

On March 7, Turkmenistan celebrates the professional holiday — Day of Workers of the Transport and Communications Complex, established by decree of the President of the country in October 2017. It is not a day off and is celebrated in professional circles in the industry.

The celebration of the Day is timed to coincide with the opening date of new railway and road bridges across the Amu Darya, which took place on March 7, 2017.

This event became truly important for the development of transport, communications and trade, not only for Turkmenistan, but also for other countries of Central Asia. This is confirmed by the fact that the opening ceremony of the bridges was attended by the Presidents of two countries in this region: Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

It cannot be said that before the advent of new bridges, communication between the countries across the Amu Darya was limited, but the bridge, which had been in operation since 1901, no longer corresponded to the increased traffic, and the service life of its structural elements had already been seriously reduced.

The geographical location of Turkmenistan contributes to the development of trade with the countries of Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. Important road and rail routes run through the country.

Transport in Turkmenistan, as in many other countries of the world, is represented by different types: road, rail, aviation and sea modes of transport. Three airports operating in the country carry out air transportation of passengers and cargo, both on domestic airlines and on international routes.

Access to the Caspian Sea provides Turkmenistan with the possibility of sea connections and trade with other countries with access to this sea.

The government has recently been paying more and more attention to the development of each type of transport: railways and roads are being built, and the road, railway and aviation fleets are being replenished. To implement all these processes, Turkmenistan cooperates with enterprises in Russia, Belarus, China and other countries engaged in the production and maintenance of various types of transport. The authorities are also paying attention to improving the social and living conditions of the complex’s employees.

Honoring workers in the transport and communications sector on March 7 takes place throughout the country: concerts, festive events, awards for industry workers who have achieved high results in their professional activities.
