Day of pleasant surprises (26/10)

Kind and cheerful holiday – Day of Pleasant Surprises – is celebrated on October 26.

It is not known for certain – who initiated the holiday and when, but obviously – is a very positive person and open to the world. Every year the Day has more and more supporters, so today it is becoming an increasingly widespread celebration.

The traditions of the Day, naturally, « stem from the very name of the holiday » on this day, it is customary to give different – pleasures« to other people, and for no particular reason and even to unfamiliar people. And the joy of an unexpected gift or attention – plays a significant role in the life of each of us.

In addition, since the date of the holiday falls in the fall – not the most beloved and causing sadness, such a Day can give joy and make many smile.

Where to start? Of course, with surprises to the closest people – loved ones, parents, children, work colleagues, friends... Moreover, it does not have to be an expensive or solid gift. Breakfast in bed, kiss and wish for good morning, chocolate for tea, a nice message in the messenger, a call to parents with wishes for good or just a smile (maybe the first person you meet) – will already give a lot of joy and pleasant feelings to both you and those around you.

And if you want something «global» – call friends you haven’t seen for a long time, invite your loved one to a restaurant or exhibition/walk, help your grandmother carry a bag or take it across the road, please your colleagues at work with a cake or other pleasant surprise... But the main thing – is just like that, spontaneously, because the end result should be a wonderful day! It all depends on imagination and the desire to please others. And as popular wisdom says, giving gifts is more pleasant than receiving them.

By the way, according to philosophical teachings, the good done will return to the performer in a hundredfold amount. It has been scientifically proven that by performing positive actions and increasing our mood, we thereby strengthen our immunity, improve well-being, reduce the risk of diseases of the nervous and vascular systems, and increase our vitality.

Indeed, in the modern world, with its speeds, stress, and flow of negative information, the usual kind smile and simple human participation are so lacking. The day of pleasant surprises is just the occasion to once again show that it is not a shame to be kind. Some people mistakenly consider this holiday an infantile relic of a carefree childhood. But it is precisely this childish lightness and lack of fear of being misunderstood that adults sometimes lack. The main thing is to start – yourself. And let there be more pleasant surprises in everyone’s life!

Let us remind you that other good holidays are celebrated around the world – World Kindness Day and Spontaneous Kindness Day.
