Memorial Day of St. Luppus of Thessalonica (05/09)

On this day, Orthodox Christians honor the memory of the martyr Lupp, who lived in the late 3rd — early 4th centuries and was a faithful servant of the holy great martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica.

Being present at the lord's demise, he soaked his clothes with his blood and took the ring from his hand. Saint Lupp performed many miracles in Thessalonica with this clothing, as well as with his ring and the name of the Great Martyr Demetrius.

He defeated the pagan idols, for which he was persecuted by the pagans, but was preserved unharmed by the power of God.

Saint Luppus voluntarily put himself into the hands of torturers and, at the behest of Emperor Maximian Galerius, was truncated with a sword.
