Nevada State Day in the USA (31/10)

On October 31, 1864, just 8 days before the US presidential election, Nevada became the 36th state to join the United States. Since then, Nevada residents have been celebrating this event —, Nevada's so-called birthday.

As early as March 2, 1861, Nevada separated from Utah and acquired its own name, shortened from the Sierra Nevada. Nevada Day was first celebrated in the 1870s, and it received official status in 1933. The holiday was originally celebrated on October 31, exactly the anniversary of Nevada's entry into the United States, but since 2000 it has been celebrated on the last Friday of October so that residents of the state have a long holiday weekend.

Nevada's mining-based economy was closely tied to the more industrialized Union, which politically justified Nevada's admission to the U.S. Nevada became part of the United States during the Civil War between the southern and northern states.

«Battle Born in The Battle Born State » is Nevada's official slogan. The state flag contains the inscription «Born in Battle» (Battle Born).

Nevada (English. State of Nevada) — is a state in the western United States, the fastest growing state in the United States. State capital — city Carson City, largest city — Las Vegas.
