Labor Day in Jamaica (23/05)

Every year on May 23, Jamaica celebrates Labor Day. This holiday was first celebrated in 1939. In familiar words, this is a kind of national cleanup day.

Jamaica — island blessed with amazing beauty. But time, coupled with thoughtless human actions, undermined the environment, and gradually everything fell into disrepair.

Low rates of economic growth, the emerging need to eliminate a variety of problems associated with the renovation of hospitals, schools, police stations, roads — all became prerequisites for the introduction of Labor Day.

On Labor Day, the tradition of — Jamaicans working for free for the benefit of society on this day was established. And although residents understand the importance of participating in this day, every year the number of participants decreases — many people just want to take a break from their daily activities on this day.
