Every year on June 30, the Republic of Belarus celebrates a public holiday - Economist's Day. It was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 35 of February 2, 2000.
In 1920, by a decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR, the General Planning Commission was formed under the Council of Labor and Defense. According to the approved regulation, the General Planning Commission (Gosplan) was entrusted with the development of a unified state plan. In the same year, the All-Russian Congress of Soviets, in its resolution, pointed out the need to create higher economic bodies in the provinces and regions - Economic Conferences.
Because of the civil war and foreign intervention, the decision of the congress was carried out later. The first meeting of the Economic Conference formed in Belarus took place on April 26, 1921. And on June 30, 1921, the Economic Conference developed and approved the regulation on the Planning Commission (Gosplan) of the republic.
