Police Day in Kazakhstan (23/06)

Every year on June 23, Kazakhstan celebrates the professional holiday — Police Day.

In 1992, the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted the law «On the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan». This was the first legal act after the declaration of independence of the Republic, which defined the tasks and functions of the Kazakh police.

In 2007, by decree of the head of state, June 23 was officially approved as Police Day. That day, the capital's Defenders of the Fatherland Park was full of scarlet general's lamps. Fifty-one generals, representatives of the ministries of internal affairs from eight Commonwealth countries: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, who came specifically to the country, honored the memory of those who fell for their Motherland with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the monument.

Today, traditionally, on this day, employees of internal affairs bodies are awarded orders of varying degrees. Also, government officials across the country will present various gifts to the best police officers, for example, cars, as was the case on the eve of the 15th anniversary of the service. The personnel of the internal affairs bodies must receive warm congratulations from the head of state.

Kazakh Police Day — is a sign of gratitude to all those who selflessly created the Kazakh police and work in its ranks. This is an expression of gratitude to its veterans, who earned the respect of the people through honest service to their work. This is a tribute to the memory of those who gave their lives in peacetime for the sake of peace and security of Kazakhstanis.

Over the years of independence, more than 400 police and internal troops have been awarded state awards, of which about 100 internal affairs officers have been awarded the orders «Dank» and «Aibyn», of which more than half — posthumously.
