The Day of the Forensic Expert (Ukrainian Day of the Forensic Expert), celebrated in the country annually on July 4, was established by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 424 of June 10, 2009.
The establishment of this professional holiday was initiated before the President of Ukraine by the Coordinating Council on Forensic Expertise under the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. When deciding to establish a new holiday, the President was guided by the fact that forensic activities are of great importance in ensuring justice, protecting the rights and freedoms of man and citizen.
What is meant by forensic science?
Forensic examination is a procedural action consisting of conducting research and giving an opinion by an expert on issues, the resolution of which requires special knowledge in the field of science, technology, art or craft, and which are put before the expert by the court, judge, body of inquiry, person conducting the inquiry, investigator or a prosecutor, in order to establish the circumstances to be proved in a particular case.
Currently, about 6,000 forensic experts have been certified in Ukraine, including 1,400 state experts. And on their professional holiday, they receive congratulations from management and colleagues.
