Day of district police commissioners in Russia (17/11)

Every year on November 17, Russia celebrates a professional holiday - the Day of District Police Commissioners (until March 1, 2011 - "The Day of District Police Commissioners"), established by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation No. 868 dated September 6, 2002, "in order to maintain continuity in the work of district police officers authorized police officers, propaganda and dissemination of positive experience and established traditions of their activities, as well as taking into account their significant role in the implementation of the tasks performed by the internal affairs bodies.

The date of November 17 for the holiday was chosen by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia due to the fact that on this day in 1923 the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the RSFSR approved the "Instruction to the District Warden". This normative legal document marked the beginning of the formation of the institute of precinct officers in the Soviet police.

After the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2011 and the reorganization of the police into the police, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs working in the position of district commissioners began to be called "district police commissioner", and the holiday was accordingly renamed the Day of district police commissioners.
