Sea festival in Kotka (27/07)

The Finnish city of Kotka is located at the mouth of the Kymijoki River on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, not far from the border with Russia: the distance to St. Petersburg is only 279 km.

Every summer, the population of Kotka increases by at least one hundred thousand people for a few days in July. People from all over the world come here for the well-known Kotka Maritime Festival, Finland's biggest summer festival.

The holiday takes place in the city port - the most beautiful place in the city - and consists of several parts. These are the most diverse and very spectacular sea races, a children's sea festival, a jazz mini-festival, a competition of sea songs, concerts for every taste. And, of course, the sea market and seafood tasting.
