Notary Day in Ukraine (02/09)

Notary Day (Ukrainian Notary Day) has been officially celebrated in Ukraine since 2010. President Viktor Yushchenko signed a decree establishing this professional holiday on February 22, 2010.

The Ukrainian Chamber of Notaries, which consists of about 5,000 specialists, addressed the head of state with a request to introduce a professional holiday. This decision was made by the chamber at the end of 2007, however, due to bureaucratic delays, the initiative had to be postponed.

In 2009, the proposal of notaries was supported by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. It sent an appeal to the president, which stated: "... a notary is a natural defender of human rights, since he provides independent and impartial legal assistance on the principles of equality, legality and justice."

According to the employees of the ministry, the introduction of the Day of Notaries would be "recognition and confirmation of authority and responsibility, a fair reward for the achievements and successes of representatives of this profession."

Now every year on September 2, specialists in this profession receive congratulations from management, colleagues and friends.
