The ninth day of Ridwan (29/04)

Bahá'ís celebrate the Ninth Day of Ridvan today. On this day in 1863, Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i Faith, announced His mission in a garden near Baghdad.

The proclamation of Bahá'u'lláh is celebrated every year as the twelve-day Feast of Ridwan (Festival of Ridwan). The first, ninth and twelfth days of Ridvan are especially celebrated.

Most Baha'i elections take place during Ridwan. Communities elect Local Spiritual Assemblies. National Spiritual Assemblies are also elected during Ridvan. And every five years, members of the Universal House of Justice, the central governing body of the Baha'i community, are elected.

Every year, the Universal House of Justice sends the Message to the Ridwan to the Baha'is of the world.
