Mother's Day in the Kyrgyz Republic (15/05)

On the third Sunday of May, starting from 2012, Mother's Day is celebrated in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Since 2005, the Russian Unifying Union of Compatriots in Kyrgyzstan (RUSS) has repeatedly come out with the initiative to establish this holiday and appealed to the country's leadership. And so, on March 7, 2012, at a festive evening dedicated to International Women's Day, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev, in his congratulatory speech, promised to establish such a day in the country. Mothers' Day was originally supposed to be celebrated on the second Sunday in May.

But Mother's Day should be a special, unobscured day. Therefore, given that May in Kyrgyzstan is filled with bright public holidays (May 1 - Labor Day, May 5 - Constitution Day, May 9 - Victory Day), the Russians asked the country's leadership to postpone the celebration of Mother's Day to a later time.
