Graphic designers in Russia and a number of CIS countries celebrate their professional holiday on September 9 every year.
It was established in 2005, on the day of the 50th anniversary of Vladimir Chaika, a well-known graphic designer, winner of many awards at international and domestic competitions. Vladimir Chaika's works have been repeatedly recognized as the best at festivals in Brno, Warsaw, Helsinki, Zagreb, Kharkov, Moscow. Chaika became the first graphic designer to be awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art.
Vladimir Chaika, after graduating from an educational institution, entered the applied graphics workshop of the Art Fund, collaborated with the most famous Soviet designers. Chaika received his first professional award - a silver medal at the International Biennale of Graphic Design in Brno - for the cover of Reklama magazine in 1988. By the way, during the period of cooperation between the designer and the magazine, the circulation of the printed edition increased from 20,000 to 80,000 copies.
