International Day of Social Educators (02/10)

International Day of Social Educators — is a professional holiday that is celebrated annually on October 2.

In May 2009, the XVII International Conference of Social Educators was held in Copenhagen. This event was attended by representatives of 44 countries, including Russia. The conference turned out to be significant, since it was at it that it was decided to establish an international holiday for all social teachers.

Let us recall that social pedagogy is a science that explores education in the context of socialization, that is, it takes into account the influence of the environment on the formation of personality. One of the functions of social pedagogy — is to develop a system of measures that make it possible to educate a person in an optimal way.

In the new century, the development of world trends has moved forward very quickly. Not everyone can keep up with the pace of life, and social adaptation is quite difficult for some people. Difficult teenagers, orphans, disabled children, and children from disadvantaged families require special attention. It is social teachers who help them keep up with society, not feel abandoned, superfluous or different from everyone else.

On Social Educator Day, thematic events are held around the world, mainly professional conferences, forums, and seminars. A wide variety of topics are discussed there. Here are just a few examples: increasing the role of the family in the development of society; spiritual, moral and socio-political potential for uniting society; healthy lifestyle and problems of youth education; social conflicts and methods of overcoming them; informatization of society.

Higher educational institutions that train social educators also organize their events. Universities and institutes conduct scientific and methodological games, master classes and seminars, and the students themselves prepare skits and concerts.
