Today, January 16, from the speakers and headphones of real music lovers sound "Yesterday", "Yellow Submarine", "Let It Be" and other creations of one of the most popular musical groups of all time - the legendary four from Liverpool. Since 2001, UNESCO has celebrated January 16 as World Beatles Day.
The date, of course, was not chosen by chance. On January 16, 1957, The Cavern Club opened in Liverpool, where the then-unknown young musicians John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison began their path to fame. A few years later, they were joined by another future "Beatle" - Ringo Starr.
Later, on January 16, another significant event in the history of The Beatles happened: on this day in 1964, Cashbox magazine assigned the song "I Want To Hold Your Hand" the first place in the American hit parade, after this single sold a million circulation in just 10 days.
