On March 11, 1992, the law "On private detective and security activities" was adopted in Russia. In honor of this date, employees of security agencies and private detectives have established their own professional holiday - the Day of employees of private security agencies.
It is interesting that only in 2009 a new line appeared in the Unified Reference Book of Occupations of the Russian Federation - “security guard”. Meanwhile, by the beginning of 2010, there were 27.5 thousand private security organizations (PHOOs) operating in Russia and almost 720 thousand licensed security guards worked. As of 2011, PSOs provided security for almost half a million objects, and 641,000 employees were on the staff of security organizations. 183 thousand of them worked with weapons. By mid-2015, there were more than 23,000 PSCs operating in Russia, employing 715,600 people. Under their protection were 895.5 thousand objects of various forms of ownership.
According to statistics, most of the guards are former employees of the internal affairs bodies (almost 100 thousand people) and retired military personnel. Also, people who previously worked in state security agencies and other law enforcement agencies often come to this profession.
