Border Guard Day of Kyrgyzstan (28/05)

In independent Kyrgyzstan, the Day of the Border Guard (Kyrgyzstandyn chegarachisynyn kүnu), celebrated on May 28, was first established by Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 696 of December 15, 1999, in order to form the traditions of the border service of the Kyrgyz Republic, promote its significance and ensure continuity.

The holiday dates back to Soviet times, when it was established in 1958. And the historical event that became the basis for choosing the date of the holiday was the establishment by the Decree of the Council of People's Commissars on May 28, 1918 of the Border Guard of the RSFSR Border.

On May 23, 2003, by Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 303, the celebration of the Day of the Border Guard on May 28 was canceled, and a new date was set - October 29.
