Starting from 2016, September 24 is celebrated in Crimea as the Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag of the Republic.
Back in 2015, on January 19, the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Crimea was celebrated on the peninsula. But by the decision of the republican authorities, adopted in March 2015, the holiday was renamed the “Day of the State Emblem and State Flag of the Republic of Crimea”, the date itself was included in the list of official holidays of the Republic, and its celebration was postponed from January 19 to September 24. The new holiday is on a par with such official dates as the Day of the Republic of Crimea, the Day of the reunification of Crimea with Russia and the Day of the Constitution of the Republic.
The provisions of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, as well as the Constitution of the Republic of Crimea define the coat of arms, flag and anthem as state symbols. The Head of the Republic, by his decrees, determined the procedure for the use of these state symbols for this subject of the Russian Federation.
