Day of the Russian military peacekeeper (25/11)

Every year on November 25, while unofficially, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation celebrate a professional holiday - the Day of the Russian military peacekeeper.

November 25 was chosen as the date of celebration in honor of the fact that on this day in 1973, a group of Soviet military personnel took part at the official level as part of a peacekeeping operation in the Middle East.

The UN peacekeeping forces themselves are the armed contingents of the UN member states, which are formed and sent to conflict regions in order to prevent or eliminate threats to peace and security through joint actions. They, otherwise known as "blue helmets", were created as one of the tools for maintaining peace, preventing conflicts and securing a peace initiative.
