Harvest festival in Turkmenistan (13/11)

Every second Sunday in November, starting in 2017, Turkmenistan celebrates the Harvest Festival. The corresponding Decree was signed in October 2017 by the President of the Republic, making amendments to the Labor Code and a list of holidays and memorable dates celebrated in Turkmenistan.

Until this point, the traditional celebration was celebrated every last Sunday in November.

The harvest festival or Khasyl Bayramy, as its name sounds in Turkmen, marks the end of the harvest season, agricultural work and cotton picking, which is one of the riches of Turkmenistan.

Harvest Festival – is a big celebration of agricultural workers, celebrated on a grand scale throughout the country. Celebrations dedicated to agricultural workers and their labor achievements are held with the organization of exhibitions, sports competitions, festive concerts, at which representatives of the Turkmen stage, folk song and dance ensembles, and vocal ensembles perform. The President of the country, the leadership of the Mejlis, representatives of ministries and departments, cultural workers, and elders address congratulations to the village workers.

The media widely covers the celebrations taking place throughout the country. The main characters on this day are agronomists, breeders, machine operators, agricultural specialists and other agricultural workers. Workers who have made a worthy contribution to agricultural development and harvesting receive valuable gifts from industry management.

Often, exhibitions and fairs of cotton products, as well as other sectors of the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan, are timed to coincide with the Harvest Festival. At such events, visitors can see samples of grain products, cotton, livestock and other sectors of agriculture, learn about advanced methods of harvesting, storing and processing, get acquainted with samples of advanced agricultural machinery and textile products.

A constant attribute of the national holiday is horse racing, where the best riders show the beauty and grace of Akhal-Teke horses, as well as skills in horse riding.

Traditional Turkmen cuisine is prepared in squares and squares, generously complemented by a rich harvest of melons and watermelons. The aroma of national dishes and fruits invites guests to generous dastarkhan.

Bright national costumes, Turkmen yurts, music, works of carpet art, embroidery complement the holiday and give it an appropriate flavor.
