Day of oil and gas industry and geology workers in Turkmenistan (14/12)

Every year on December 14, workers in the oil and gas industry and geology of Turkmenistan celebrate their professional holiday. Its appearance in the calendar of holidays and memorable dates of Turkmenistan is associated with an important economic event in 2009, affecting the oil and gas complex of the state. It was then that the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline was put into operation.

An important economic agreement on the construction of the gas pipeline was adopted in 2007 by the leaders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China. On December 14, 2009, the gas pipeline began work, which gave rise to the establishment of a professional holiday for gas workers, oil workers and geologists, paying tribute to their work for the benefit of the state.

The oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan includes the state concerns "Turkmengas", "Turkmenneft", the state corporation "Turkmengeology" and the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries. Thanks to the rich hydrocarbon deposits, the oil and gas industry plays one of the leading roles in the economy of Turkmenistan, allowing it to meet the domestic needs of the market, making the country completely energy independent, as well as export raw materials and products to neighboring states, significantly replenishing the state budget. Against this background, the commissioning of the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline, along with the signing of a long-term agreement on gas supplies to the Middle Kingdom, is indeed one of the largest economic transactions and a huge achievement of the country's oil and gas industry.
