October 11 is World Obesity Day. This was reported on the page of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO).
If 20-30 years ago the problem of obesity was a topic of discussion for individuals who care about a healthy lifestyle and lead it, as well as nutritionists, today obesity and the increase in the number of overweight people have become one of the serious threats to human health, which often put on a par with diseases of the cardiovascular system and cancer.
Recently, there has been an increase in the incidence of obesity in children and adolescents around the world: in developed countries, 25% of adolescents are overweight, and 15% are obese. Being overweight in childhood is a significant factor in obesity in adulthood: 50% of overweight children at age 6 become obese in adulthood, and this probability increases to 80% in adolescence. By 2030, according to WHO forecasts, up to 41% of the total population will be overweight.
