Day of the Holy Innocent Infants of Bethlehem (28/12)

On December 28, the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the Day of the Holy Innocents of Bethlehem.

Christians venerate holy infants as martyrs, believing that anyone who was killed out of hatred for Christ should be considered a martyr, even if he did not suspect the meaning of what was happening.

According to the Gospel of Matthew (2:16), King Herod ordered the killing of all innocent babies, having learned from the Magi about the birth of Christ (Messiah).
