Aphellio (25/01)

In the 9th century, the Vikings landed on the Shetland Islands, located off the coast of Scotland, opening a new page in the history of the islands. This event is dedicated to the famous traditionally Scottish holiday Up-Helly-Aa, held in the main city of the Shetland Islands, Lerwick.

Apkhellio is celebrated annually on the last Tuesday of January and is considered the biggest fire festival in Europe and one of the unique festivals in the world.

But in 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the festival was canceled.
