Journalist Day in China (08/11)

Every year on November 8, since 2000, China celebrates Journalist's Day. It has become the third widely celebrated professional holiday in China after Nurses' Day and Teacher's Day.

It must be said that this professional holiday was celebrated earlier - for example, from 1933 to 1949, Chinese reporters celebrated it on September 1, in memory of the fact that on this day in 1933 China passed a law on the protection of the rights of news workers. In subsequent years, this holiday was not celebrated in China for a long time, and only in 1999 it was remembered again, and the date was set for November 8. On this day in 1937, the Chinese Youth Journalistic Organization was formed in Shanghai, which, after the creation of the PRC, accepted into its ranks all the journalists of the country's central publications.

Currently, more than 700,000 people work in the Chinese media. And today they celebrate their professional holiday. On this day, a solemn meeting and a festive evening are held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. At the same time, activities dedicated to the Journalist's Day are organized in all provinces and autonomous regions.
