Music Day in France (21/06)

June 21 — is the longest daylight hours, becoming the date of the celebration of music played throughout France.

This romantic calendar date is — Music Day (French. Fête de la Musique) — was born in 1982 thanks to French Minister Jacques Langro and is dedicated to the summer solstice.

Music on this day sounds everywhere: in concert halls, on the streets, in apartments. Everyone who knows how to play musical instruments plays, those who know how to sing — sing, those who know how to dance — dance, those who are completely devoid of all talents listen to the performers, and all enjoy life together.

On this day, orchestra parades and concerts take place, in which both « stars» and unknown artists take part, performing musical works of absolutely all genres, from classical music to its most modern movements. Many famous musicians come to France specifically on this day to perform for free on stage, in restaurants, and on the streets.

Silence on this day simply does not exist in France. And not only during the day, but also at night, since the holiday continues until the morning. In general, official parades and concerts begin in the afternoon, after the working day ends, but everyone in the country is in a festive mood from the very morning.
