World Twin Cities Day (24/04)

World Twin Cities Day is held annually on the last Sunday of April by decision of the World Federation of United Cities, founded in 1957.

The World Federation of Sister Cities (WWF) is an international non-governmental organization whose goal was to strengthen friendly ties between the cities of different states. It unites over 3,500 cities in more than 160 countries of the world (by 2000). As a result of the merger with the International Union of Local Authorities and Metropolis in 2004, the World Organization "United Cities and Local Governments", UCLG (Eng. United Cities and Local Governments, UCLG), arose, and the WWF ceased to exist.

The purpose of the UCLG activity is to promote the development of friendly relations between the cities of different countries in the field of economic and cultural cooperation, education, medicine, environmental protection, etc.
