Every year on the first Monday of October, the United Nations celebrates World Habitat Day. One of the translations into Russian that is close in meaning can be World Dwelling Day (place of residence).
In 1985, in accordance with the recommendation of the Commission on Human Settlements, the UN General Assembly, by its resolution (A / RES / 40/202), established this World Day with the goal of providing housing for the world's population by the year 2000. And the main idea of the Day is to reflect on the state of our cities and the basic universal right to adequate housing, as well as to remind the world of the collective responsibility for the future of the human environment.
Since 1996, the World Day of Architecture has also been timed to coincide with World Housing Day.
