Chemist's Day is a professional holiday for workers in the chemical and petrochemical industries, which dates back to Soviet times and is celebrated on the last Sunday of May.

Chemist's Day was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 1, 1980 No. 3018-X "On holidays and memorable days." After the collapse of the USSR, the tradition of celebrating it on the last Sunday of May has been preserved not only in Russia, but also in a number of other post-Soviet countries.

Being one of the main branches of heavy industry, the chemical complex includes the chemical and petrochemical industries, which, in turn, are divided into many industries and industries.
