Day of Remembrance for those killed in South Korea (06/06)

Remembrance Day ( ⁇ 集; Hyeonchung-il) is held in South Korea on June 6 in honor of soldiers and civilians killed during the war who gave their lives for the country.

This memorial date is celebrated on the day the truce was signed, ending the Korean War of 1950—1953. This conflict between North and South Korea led to the division of the country and enormous human losses.

Every year on this day, meetings of veterans and various events are held in honor of war participants. The largest memorial ceremony is held at the National Cemetery in Seoul. Also on this day at 10 a.m., a siren sounds, calling for a minute of silence, as a tribute to the memory of all those who died.
