Krishna Janmashtami — Day of Krishna Appearance (19/08)

Sri Krishna Janmashtami — Krishna Appearance Day — is a significant Vedic holiday that is celebrated very widely in India and is popular (despite even religion).

Krishna represents the absolute meaning of life, which is at the heart of the universe beyond everything. The Vedas consider Sri Krishna to be the Supreme Personality of God, the cause of all causes. One of the translations in Sanskrit means «All-attractive».

Vyasadev, the sage of the enlightened vision and the greatest historian of antiquity, testified to the growth of unrighteousness in the families of those who ruled people about five thousand years ago. It was then that Krishna came to remind man of the true values of life and way of life. He restored that direct contact with transcendental Being, which alone can give fullness to every aspect of life. This is the teaching of eternal Truth given by Krishna Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita.

Gradually this teaching became forgotten, thousands of years later even the principle of Being was obscured by false beliefs that glorified only the relative aspects of life. «Large amount of time, — says Krishna, — is the reason for such loss of wisdom».

Krishna appeared in Ashtami (8th lunar day) when Chandra (Moon) was decreasing. When the time came for His birth, all the planets occupied the most favorable position. At this moment, a favorable atmosphere of peace and prosperity was established everywhere. Favorable signs were visible in the sky, and happiness reigned on the earth of people. Krishna, although the source of material creation, He never comes into contact with matter and appears in his original spiritual body, consisting of eternity, knowledge and bliss.
