Programmer's Day in Russia (13/09)

Programmer's Day has been celebrated in Russia since 2009. This professional holiday was established by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 1034 of September 11, 2009 at the initiative of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation and is celebrated on the 256th day of the year - September 13, and if the year is a leap year - September 12.

The number 256 was chosen because it is the number of integers that can be expressed with one eight-bit byte, and it is also the maximum power of 2 that is less than the number of days in a year - 365.

Many people know that this date has long become an unofficial holiday all over the world for people who have connected their professional activities with programming. On July 24, 2009, the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation prepared and submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation a draft Decree of the President of Russia "On the Programmer's Day", which was signed in September of the same year. What became the recognition of the state importance of the software development sphere and the significant contribution of specialists in this profession to the innovative development of the Russian Federation.
