Birthday of King of Norway Harald V (21/02)

Like other Scandinavian monarchies, Norway celebrates the birthdays of members of the royal family. These days are called flag days (holidays and memorable dates, in honor of which the state flag is raised in the places established by law). Since January 17, 1991, King Harald V (King of Norway) has been on the Norwegian throne, who came to the throne after the death of his father, Olav V.

Harald was born on February 21, 1937, in the royal estate of Skaugum, which is located outside of Oslo. He was six years old when Germany invaded Norway on April 9, 1943. Only a couple of hours before the invasion of the invaders, Harald, his mother and two older sisters, Ragnhild and Astrid, crossed the border with Sweden and from there moved to the United States, where they stayed until the end of the war.

After the liberation of Norway, Prince Harald attended the public elementary school "Smestad". After elementary school, he entered the Katedralskole school in Oslo. In 1956 he began his military career. He studied at the cavalry school in Trandum, in 1959 he graduated from the military academy. He currently holds the ranks of General of the Army, General of the Air Force and Admiral of the Navy.
