Day of the Ground Forces of Ukraine (12/12)

Professional holiday — Day of the Ground Forces of Ukraine ( Ukrainian. « The Day of Sukhoputny Vijsk of Ukraine » ), which is celebrated annually in the country on December 12, is established by Decree of the President of Ukraine № 1167/97 of October 18, 1997.

The ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were formed in 1996 as part of the Armed Forces of the State on the basis of the Decree of the President in accordance with Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine « On the Armed Forces of Ukraine ».

These troops are the most numerous type of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in ensuring the defense capability of the state. By their purpose and the volume of tasks assigned to them, they play a decisive role in the performance of their functions, both in peacetime and in wartime. By their numbers, the Ground Forces make up almost half of all the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine include: mechanized and tank troops, missile troops and artillery, army aircraft, airmobile troops, and air defense forces.

Today, everyone involved in these troops celebrates their professional holiday.
