Forest Workers Day (18/09)

When you enter the fragrant and cool forest, Among the spots of sunny and strict silence Your chest meets, so joyfully and greedily, The breath of wet herbs and the aroma of pine ... (from a poem by V. Rozhdestvensky).

On the third Sunday of September, the professional holiday of people who, with their noble work, preserve and increase the forest resources of the planet and contribute to their rational use is celebrated. The Day of Forest Workers traces its history back to the time of the existence of the USSR.

On August 13, 1966, the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on the establishment of this holiday was adopted, and in 1980, Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR No. 3018-X “On holidays and memorable days” confirmed its celebration on the third Sunday of September.
