Every year on May 12, Republika Srpska celebrates Army Day.
On May 12, 1992, at its next meeting, the then Assembly of the Serbian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina at a meeting in Banja Luka decided to form the army of the Republika Srpska BiH, as was then called the RS, and on the basis of the information agency SRNA.
Republika Srpska ( also known as the Bosnian Serb Army ) lasted from 1992 to 2006. During the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republika Srpska army played one of the main roles.
After the reform of the defense system of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2003, the RS army became part of the combined Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, becoming one of the three component regiments. And in 2006, the Republika Srpska Armed Forces finally ceased to exist.
However, on May 12, Republika Srpska continues to celebrate as Republika Srpska Army Day, which remains an important memorial date for residents.
