On January 18, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the day of the Eve of the Epiphany or Epiphany Christmas Eve.
Epiphany Christmas Eve is an evening of preparation before the great Orthodox holiday, which is called the Epiphany of the Lord or Epiphany. This holiday of the Orthodox Church is one of the Twelve. On this day, the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist (the Baptist) in the Jordan River is remembered.
The word "I baptize", "I baptize" in Greek means "I immerse in water." John's Baptism was, in fact, a cleansing bath. Christian baptism is understood as taking on the cross.
