International Planetary Day (13/03)

International Day of Planetaria is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of March in many countries around the world. This holiday has European "roots", it was first held in Italy in 1990 at the initiative of the Association of Italian Planetariums.

As you know, the championship in the creation of an apparatus similar to a modern planetarium belongs to German scientists - in 1925 in Jena, at the Zeiss plant, the first universal projection module "Planetarium" was developed and built.

The status of the international Planetarium Day acquired in 1994, when it was supported by the French "Temples of Astronomy". A year later, this holiday began to be celebrated in six more countries: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine and Russia.
