National Hunting and Fisheries Day in the United States (24/09)

Every year on the fourth Saturday of September, the United States celebrates National Hunting and Fishing Day.

The idea of organizing the Day of Fishing and Hunting belongs to the athlete Ira Joffe, the owner of her own weapon shop for hunters Joffe's Gun Shop. And at the insistence of the National Shooting Sports Society, the concept of this holiday was considered by the US Senate.

In June 1971, Senator Thomas McIntyre, in Consolidated Resolution 117, authorized National Hunting and Fishing Day to be held annually on the fourth Saturday in September.
