Day of Standardization and Metrology Workers of Kyrgyzstan (24/10)

The Day of Standardization and Metrology Workers, which is celebrated in Kyrgyzstan annually on October 24, was established by Decree of the Government of the Republic № 449 of October 1, 1996, taking into account the important role of standardization, metrological service and certification in improving the quality of products, increasing the country’s export potential and issues of economic management of the Republic.

On October 24, 1927, the fundamentals of national standardization and metrology were introduced in the Kyrgyz Republic. Therefore, this date was chosen to establish the holiday.

National government body for the implementation of a unified state policy in the field of certification of the Kyrgyz Republic — Center for Standardization and Metrology under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic «Kyrgyzstandart», the main goals of which are:

— creation and development of the National Standardization System in accordance with international rules and recommendations;

— carrying out work in the field of metrology to ensure uniformity of measurements in the Kyrgyz Republic;

— maintenance and development of the National Reference Base.

Let us remind you that October 14 is World Standards Day. It was on this day in 1946 that a conference of national standards organizations opened in London at the premises of the Institute of Civil Engineers. The result of her work was the founding of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) — of the new International Organization for Standardization.
