Independence Day in Ecuador (10/08)

On August 10, Ecuadorians celebrate Independence Day in Ecuador, the —th anniversary of the declaration of independence from Spanish colonization on August 10, 1809.

The 19th century was marked for Ecuador and all of Latin America by national liberation wars and revolutions. They began with a revolution in the capital of Ecuador — Quito — in August 1809.

As a result, the country's independence from Spanish colonization was declared. Another revolution took place in October 1810. The national movement won in 1822, when Colombian troops defeated the Spaniards. Simon Bolivar gained control of Ecuador.

On Independence Day, Ecuador, especially Quito, hosts military and school parades, as well as social and artistic events.

The capital of Ecuador, Quito, is admittedly one of the most beautiful cities in South America. It combines a large number of traditions and cultures. Quito — is the first city in the world to be declared a cultural world heritage monument by UNESCO in 1978.

On July 24, Ecuador celebrates Simon Bolivar Day — Liberator.
