Day of Physical Culture and Sports Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic (06/04)

Since 2014, the Day of Physical Culture and Sports Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyz Republicsynn dene tarbiya zhana sport kyzmatkerlerinin kunu) has been celebrated in the country on April 6, according to the Resolution of the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Zhantoro Satybaldiev dated January 11, 2014. It was decided to coincide with the International Sports Day.

In connection with the establishment of a new date, the Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic of September 17, 1993, according to which the Day of Athlete and Professional Workers of Physical Culture and Sports of Kyrgyzstan was celebrated on the last Saturday of September, has lost force.

In the Republic, sports have always been given great attention. On April 8, 1925, the regional Council for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region began to operate. The council included district, city, district and parish councils. These organizations taught military affairs and classical sports.

On June 24, 1927, the first All-Kyrgyzstan festival of physical culture took place. Sports competitions in athletics, shooting, football and basketball competitions were held. Athletes who received the title of champion were sent to zonal competitions in Orenburg.

In July 1936, the Republican Committee for Physical Culture was formed in the Kyrgyz SSR.

In 1991, after gaining independence, the National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic was formed in the Republic. Currently, the state body responsible for the physical and sports development of the country is the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports under the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

On the holiday itself, mass sports and ceremonial events, competitions and demonstration performances of athletes are held throughout the Republic. And all physical education and sports workers, coaches and athletes receive congratulations from friends, colleagues and government officials.
