Day of 2D Artists (02/12)

On December 2, designers of two-dimensional computer graphics celebrate their unofficial professional holiday. It is logical that a date was chosen for the holiday that was consonant with the name of the profession: 2D — 2 December.

Computer graphics designers are primarily in demand in companies that create computer games, cartoons, and advertising. As the artists themselves put it, they work in a «-cartoon style». People of this profession often come up with heroes themselves, their images, characters, poses, and then draw them.

As 2D artists note, there is little that distinguishes them from ordinary artists who use brushes. In both cases, first of all, the ability to competently assemble objects, have an idea of anatomy, have certain knowledge about floriculture, etc. is required. 2D artists, when starting a new project, first draw it using improvised objects, and only then — in special computer programs.

Professionals advise novice 2D artists to first master Photoshop, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator programs, and this can be done on their own. There is a lot of specialized literature, courses, and Internet resources where full-fledged lessons are available on two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics. Profile sites can offer galleries of other artists and the opportunity to host the work for discussion.

Experts also advise that this profession must be learned gradually, constantly drawing and improving. As «computer» artists note, qualities such as rich imagination, perseverance, hard work and curiosity are important in their profession.

Let us remind you that the next day — December 3 — 3D animators celebrate their professional holiday.
