Transport Workers' Day in Kazakhstan (07/08)

Every year on the first Sunday of August, Kazakhstan celebrates Transport Workers' Day. It has official status and is included in the list of professional holidays of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved in 1998 by Decree of the President of the Republic.

There are a lot of people involved in this holiday, as it unites representatives of road, rail, water and air transport. Drivers, dispatchers, conductors, inspectors, drivers, conductors, pilots, flight attendants, technical staff – here is just an incomplete list of professions directly related to the holiday of transport workers.

The special location of Kazakhstan in the Eurasian Economic Union obliges the country's leadership to approach issues related to the development and modernization of the transport network and logistics with special attention.

Thus, 5 international road routes run through the territory of Kazakhstan, 14 airports serving international airlines operate, not counting local airports providing domestic air routes. Access to the Caspian Sea allows communication by water with Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan, and a wide network of railways with a total length of over 16 thousand kilometers provides intensive passenger and cargo transportation. It is also worth remembering the fact that the railways of Kazakhstan have a history of more than 100 years.

It is impossible to imagine a modern state without a clearly organized transport and logistics industry and infrastructure. Transportation of passengers, freight transportation – without this cannot ensure the life of industry, agriculture and other spheres of the state economy. It is no coincidence that highways and railways are called the transport arteries of the country.

Festive events take place on the first Sunday of August in all institutions and companies that are in one way or another involved in the field of transport, – these are concerts, presentation of certificates, letters of gratitude and valuable gifts to distinguished transport workers, honoring labor veterans.
