Day of Agricultural, Food and Processing Industry Workers in the Republic of Kazakhstan (20/11)

The Day of Agricultural, Food and Processing Industry Workers is celebrated in the Republic of Kazakhstan every third Sunday in November.

The tradition of celebrating the professional holiday of agricultural workers on this day has been preserved since Soviet times, when by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1988, the third Sunday of November became the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers. Kazakhstan, having become an independent state, remained faithful to the tradition and at the legislative level in 1998 approved the third Sunday of November as the date of celebration.

Agriculture plays an important role in the economy of Kazakhstan. The main areas of the agricultural industry are agriculture and livestock farming. Climatic and geographical conditions in Kazakhstan make it possible to obtain good yields of grain crops, among which durum wheat varieties occupy a special place. In addition to grains, attention is also paid to growing such forage and industrial crops as sunflower, flax, and cotton. Melon growing and growing fruit crops also occupy their place in the agriculture of the Republic.

In addition to agriculture, livestock farming plays a large role in the life and development of the country's agriculture. There are various areas in this area aimed at the production of meat, dairy, and wool products. Livestock sectors such as cattle breeding, sheep breeding, camel breeding and horse breeding are developing successfully.

The main task facing Kazakhstan's agriculture is the ability to most fully supply the domestic market with a variety of products and achieve the competitiveness of products on the world market, gradually increasing the share of Kazakhstan's agricultural exports in total exports. In parallel with this, such an important task as raising the level of well-being of rural residents through the implementation of the State Rural Development Program is being solved.

When establishing a professional holiday for agricultural workers, the authorities emphasized the importance of the work that these people put into the development of the country. The third Sunday of November became a holiday for many. These are agronomists, gardeners, combine operators and tractor drivers, milkmaids and other workers, specialists and managers of agricultural enterprises and farms, agricultural scientists, farm workers, as well as related industries, where the production of the final product directly depends on the supply of agricultural products.

In an effort to ensure the competitiveness of agriculture, the Government supports the industry, seeks to attract investors by directing funds to modernize the technical fleet, equipment, introduce advanced production technologies, and provides incentives to industry workers, as well as individual firms and enterprises.

In honor of the holiday, every year events are held in Kazakhstan dedicated to the celebration of Agricultural Workers Day. These are festive concerts, agricultural exhibitions, fairs and forums where manufacturers present their products, where awards are given to production leaders who have achieved high performance in their activities.
