Day of Border Guards of Turkmenistan (11/08)

On August 11, border guards of Turkmenistan, responsible for the security of the borders of their state, celebrate their professional holiday.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, each republic that was part of it and received the status of an independent state had to resolve the issue of state border security in the first days of its existence, including issues of personnel and logistics, training of command staff, interaction with border services of neighboring states, etc.

Turkmenistan created its border troops on August 11, 1992, based on the experience and system of organizing the USSR Border Service. 5 years later, in 1997, the border troops underwent a reorganization, which resulted in the State Border Service of Turkmenistan (Turkm). The combat readiness of the armed forces and border troops – is such a component and characterizing indicator that requires constant attention and improvement. Conscious of this, the leadership of Turkmenistan constantly pays attention to the state of its border service. This also applies to ensuring decent conditions of service, life and leisure for border guards. New dormitories, including family dormitories, are being built for border troops, and keys to apartments are being awarded, which provides military families with their own housing.

Personnel training for the border service is carried out by the Border Institute, where command staff are trained and advanced training is provided. The training process here is provided by officers with extensive experience in the border troops. The nature of service in the border troops requires from the border guard an excellent physical and stable morale, a set of knowledge in the field of exact sciences and humanities.

In addition to modern equipment and weapons, communication systems, the border service of Turkmenistan also has nurseries where dogs used for service in border troops are trained. There is also a characteristic feature of – use in the service of horses, including the famous Akhal-Teke horses.

Border guards of Turkmenistan celebrate their professional holiday at the post, guarding the border around the clock. Various festive events on this day help you celebrate Border Guards Day joyfully. Meetings are held in military units, during which new ranks are awarded, certificates, valuable gifts and badges of distinction are awarded. Frequent guests at such events are veterans of the border service of Turkmenistan, many of whom have received state awards.
