Although, of course, the history of ice cream as a product goes back to ancient times. About 3,000 years ago, China made cool dishes from a mixture of ice, snow and pieces of fruit. Later, a recipe for mixing milk and ice appeared there, kept in strict secrecy. They made their cool desserts in both Ancient Israel and Greece. They were more like what is now called frozen juice.

The recipe for using frozen milk in Europe did not appear until the 14th century, apparently in Italy. The recipe ended up in France in the 16th century, and classic ice cream, created on the basis of milk, appeared there, but already in the 18th century. The name «plombir» also came from France (after its appearance – Plombières-les-Bemes). Here, in the 19th century, not only ice cream, but also cups and ice cream became widespread.

Austrian confectioners gave the world chocolate ice cream, and Italian – sorbet, which, however, although it is a cool dessert, is not ice cream as such.

In Russia they also made cool delicacies according to their own recipes. The basis for them was frozen milk, cottage cheese, sour cream with the addition of other ingredients. In the mid-1930s, People's Commissar of Food of the USSR Anastas Mikoyan, during a visit to the USA, among other things, became interested in ice cream, the idea of production of which was successfully implemented in the USSR, where the quality of the product always remained very high and was recognized even abroad.
